Jeet Kune Do Classes at the Raleigh Martial Arts Academy

Who hasn’t heard of the revolutionary Bruce Lee? Made famous to the world through his movies and legendary to the martial arts community through the creation of his martial art, Jeet Kune Do.

Bruce Lee was the right vehicle at the right time to get the efficacy of cross training between martial arts across to the traditional martial arts world. Having studied the art of Wing Chun with Yip Man, Bruce realized the art was effective but could be improved upon. So he developed Jun Fan Gung Fu, or The Art of Bruce Lee.

With the help of his protégé Dan Inosanto, Bruce continued to dissect martial arts from all over the world (Savate and Fencing from France, Wrestling and Judo, Boxing, Muay Thai, and the Filipino arts) and developed a fluid martial art based around the concepts of mastering all the ranges of combat and economy of motion.

The base curriculum that Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto came up with was called Jeet Kune Do, The Way of the Intercepting Fist. This is taught to students with the ultimate goal in mind for them to explore other arts, understand their own strengths and weaknesses, encouraging the individual to become the best martial artist possible.

After Bruce’s passing Dan Inosanto took over the mantle of continuing the growth of Jeet Kune Do. Guru Guy Chase was handpicked to be a live in disciple of Dan Inosanto back when the Academy was just a tight knit group of martial artists and instructors from all over the world.

RMAA founder Jason Culbertson learned from Guru Chase and continues to teach for him to this day. RMAA’s goal is to bring back the same integrity and comradery as found in the original Inosanto Academy.
