Muay Thai Classes at the Raleigh Martial Arts Academy

Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand. Its development can be traced back to when the Kingdom of Siam and the surrounding nations were still forming. Fighting for territory and borders, Thailand developed several fighting arts commonly referred to as Muay Boran in order to defend itself from neighboring invaders.

Muay Thai, or “the science of eight limbs”, is known for its vicious use of the feet, knees, elbows, and hands.

In the economically challenged regions of the country parents often place their young children in a Thai Boxing camp to help support the family. Sometimes you can see Thai Kickboxing bouts between kids as young as seven years old. By the time these fledgling fighters enter their twenties they are seasoned veterans with more than 100 bouts of experience.

Thailand is considered the mecca for stand up fighting. Not only is Muay Thai extremely powerful and effective, but it is a great way to get in shape and work on your cardio.

At the Raleigh Martial Arts Academy you can get a great workout and learn this devastating art from an instructor that has actually lived and trained in Thailand.

The bulk of our lineage can be traced back to Ajarn Chai Sirisute and Anuwat Kaewsamrit.
